LUCKY 15 SELECTIONS

BLUE POINT (Newmarket 3.30) can land the 6f Group 1 Middle Park Stakes for Godolphin trainer Charlie Appleby. A winner of three of his four starts, including the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes at York last time, the Shamardal colt can make it four from five in what looks a cracking renewal of the race. Blue Point had three lengths to spare over Mokarris (who re-opposes) in the Gimcrack, having been narrowly beaten in the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood. The fact that William Buick felt afterwards that he is one of the best juveniles he has ever ridden speaks volumes in itself. Hold off those 2000 Guineas bets should he win, however – he looks an out-and-out sprinter and there will be question marks about his ability to handle a mile in top company next season.

LADY AURELIA (Newmarket 2.55) is the star performer on a cracking card at HQ. She is unbeaten in three starts, including when a seven-length winner of the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot and while was not so impressive in landing the Group 1 Prix Morny, it was a muddling affair and she took a keen hold. She needed the run, too, after two months off and Wesley Ward’s Scat Daddy filly id very much the one to beat in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes. Frankie Dettori won’t contemplate defeat and she should not let punters down.

WOWCHA (Hamilton 4.40) has been expensive to follow and in fairness, she has her quirks to match her ability. She has been runner-up in four of her last starts, including her last two. Dropped in trip to 6f last time, she was only just denied by Courier at Hamilton but has gone up 4lb to a mark of 79 but she may well be better off shouldering less weight in a 0-85 handicap and one of these races looks sure to fall her way soon.

SENNOKIAN STAR (Ripon 5.00) can give champion jockey Silvestre De Sousa another winner in his bid to retain the title. The Mark Johnston-trained gelding has been largely consistent this season without getting his head in front and while he was out of his depth in a Class 2 handicap at Newbury last time, he was narrowly beaten off today’s mark of 83 in a blanket finish at Sandown in a Class 4 handicap previously. He tackles similar company today and the step up in trip to 1m4f might just play to his strengths.
