Take a look at our Lucky 15 selections (four singles, six doubles, four trebles and a four-fold) for the British and Irish meetings on Thursday, May 26, 2016…

LUCKY 15 SELECTIONS

INTILAAQ (Sandown Park, 7.40) can land the feature race of the day, the 1m2f Group 3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes. A winner of similar race at Haydock in August, he produced a sub-par display in a Group 1 at Meydan in March on his seasonal return, but his trainer Roger Varian felt he needed that run. He is best judged on his win in the Rose of Lancaster, where he sauntered to a five-length success and with main rival Time Test conceding 5lb, the four-year-old gets the nod.

ROYAL ARTILLERY (Sandown 8.15) looked a colt of immense promise when scoring on his maiden at Doncaster last October. John Gosden’s representative makes a belated three-year-old debut in the Listed 1m Heron Stakes and might prove the answer from the small but select field of six. A large colt, he took time to come to himself last year and missed the Classic trials in the spring, largely due to the soft ground. A quicker surface should play to his strengths and he should soon start making up for lost time.

NORTHERN THUNDER (Haydock 2.00) sets a fair standard in the 5f Novice Auction Stakes. Richard Hannon’s juvenile improved on his debut when third of nine at Doncaster in soft ground over the minimum trip when clear of the remainder as he chased home Danielsflyer at Ayr last week over 6f. He learned plenty there and this return to 5f on quicker ground should help.

TYRANNICAL (Chelmsford City 4.20) would not be the best horse in Sir Mark Prescott’s yard by some way, but the well-bred but inexperienced three-year-old, who cost 110,000 guineas as a yearling, chased home a subsequent winner at Brighton on his first try at 10f and on his first start for eight months. He should come on a lot for that and may well appreciated a return to this all-weather surface for what is a truly dreadful three-year-old 10f handicap.
