Yahoo Sport UK’s horse racing Lucky 15 – Monday’s top picks

Yahoo Sport UK has teamed up with Bet4Causes to bring you a preview of the day’s British racing – and The Night Hawk marks your card.

Each day we will provide you with a preview of the day’s racing, offering what the experts feel will be the value bets of the day.

Take a look at our Lucky 15 selections (four singles, six doubles, four trebles and a four-fold) for the British and Irish meetings on Monday, May 9, 2016…

LUCKY 15 SELECTIONS

MINSTRELS GALLERY (Wolverhampton 2.30) is a 128-rated handicap hurdler but was given a mark of just 61 when returned to the Flat last time. Lucy Wadham’s seven-year-old easily defied that mark to win as he wanted over today’s course and distance of 1m5½f and a 7lb rise is unlikely to stop him in slightly better race.

TELLOVOI (Musselburgh 3.40) has been placed in five of his last seven runs for Richard Guest and may be about to end a barren run that stretches back 32 runs since rattling up an all-weather hat-trick in January 2014. His official rating is now well below that of his last victory and of replicating the run of his Beverley second, when nosed out of it by All You a week ago, should see him get back to winning ways.

PRETTY BUBBLES (Brighton 2.50) can claim back-to-back victories for the first time since her four-year-old days, having landed a 6f fillies’ all-weather handicap at Chelmsford last month. Today’s extra furlong should hold no fears for John Jenkins’s seven-year-old, as five of her last six wins have come over a similar trip. She is also on the same mark as her last turf victory last July.

LIGHTNING SPEAR (Windsor 7.20) represents the in-form David Simcock yard and can take the five-runner Listed Royal Windsor Stakes in the hands of Oisin Murphy. Runner-up in a Group 2 over a mile at Ascot in July, he was campaigned at the top level thereafter last term and was beaten just three lengths in the Jacques Le Marois in very soft ground at Deauville the following month. Better ground and this drop into lesser company for his seasonal debit should work the oracle.
