Gary Sanchez's season isn't off to the greatest start.
The Yankees catcher suffered a right biceps injury duringSaturday’s game against the Orioles and has been placed on the 10-day disabled list, the team announced.
Sanchez left Saturday's game in the fifth inning after fouling off a 97 mph fastball from Kevin Gausman.He was diagnosed with abiceps strain and a timetable for his return remains unknown.Heis scheduled to undergo further tests when the team returns to New York.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi told reporters after the game the team willbe cautious with Sanchez’s recovery since the injury is to his throwing arm.
Sanchez, who hit 20 home runs in 53 games last year,went 0-for-2 during the Yankees’ 5-4 loss in Baltimore. He entered Saturday's game 3-for-18 on the season.
