Former New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia may have called The Empire State home for half of his illustrious career, but the now-retired great is honoring his hometown of Vallejo, California with his new clothing line in partnership with Roots of Fight.

Dropping Tuesday, the CC Sabathia collection follows last summer's announcement that Sabathia would serve as creative director for the brand’s clothing collection paying tribute to the 100th Anniversary of the Negro Leagues.

"I've always had an interest in fashion and the way I looked," the 40-year-old told Yahoo Sports via phone. "To be able to have a your own clothing line that accurately represents your personal style is an honor. Thanks to social media, players are able to express themselves and give fans a look into their everyday style. Fashion is definitely a part of sports."

Made up of joggers, hoodies and t-shirts, Sabathia's line also commemorates the 2009 World Series winner's status as a member of the Black Aces. Joining the likes of Don Newcombe. Bob Gibson. Dwight Gooden. Vida Blue and Mudcat Grant, the Black Aces are made up of Black pitchers who won 20 or more games in a single professional season.

Though Sabathia admits he didn't have a favorite player growing up, the 2007 Cy Young winner cites a number of Negro League legends who heavily influenced him at a young age.

"Jackie Robinson, Hank Aaron, Satchel Paige, all of them and others are reasons why I was able to play the game I love at the professional level."

Comfortably enjoying life as a retired athlete, think of Sabathia's capsule as a love letter to fans and a way to maintain the connection he forged with those who supported him over 19 years and stints with the Cleveland Indians, Milwaukee Brewers and of course the Yankees.
