Florent Hoti scored the only goal of the game as Halifax leapfrogged opponents Yeovil and into the National League play-off places with a 1-0 win.

Clear-cut chances were at a premium in the first half, with Halifax forward Billy Waters bringing a decent save from Ollie Wright and Sam Johnson denying Yeovil’s Kofi Shaw at the end of a dazzling run.

The visitors took the lead in the 57th minute when Jo Cummings laid the ball off to Hoti and he fired home from outside the area.

Yeovil brought on Josh Sims after 66 minutes and he was denied an equaliser with his first touch, Johnson saving at the back post. Sims volleyed over the crossbar and Jake Wannell brought another stop from Johnson as the Glovers piled on the pressure.

Wannell was sent off at the death for Yeovil as Halifax held on.
