Carlisle United's teenage goalkeeper Gabe Breeze has made a non-league loan move.

The 18-year-old has joined Northern Premier League West outfit Widnes.

Highly-rated Cumbrian Breeze has linked up with the club for a month as he aims to gain first-team experience.

And he could make his debut for Michael Ellison's side against Newcastle Town in a league game tonight.

Widnes sit bottom of NPL West - a division that includes Workington Reds - after their first five games.

Breeze becomes the fifth young Blues player to head out on loan this season.

United already have Max Kilsby, Lewis Bell, Sam Fishburn and Lewis Boyd at Annan Athletic, Gretna 2008, Morpeth Town and Carlisle City respectively.

Blues manager Paul Simpson told the club website of Breeze's move: “We are really pleased with how Gabe is developing and this is now the next stage for him.

“It gives him a great opportunity to play in senior football where he will get tested in real match scenarios.”
