Who is Yusuf Kabadayi? Rangers transfer target profiled as Bayern Munich youngster eyed up

Yusuf Kabadayi this week emerged as a potential name for Rangers fans to be interested in and there would appear to be a concrete interest there.

Reports this week suggested the Ibrox club were considering launching a bid to try and sign the winger from Bayern Munich following his loan in the German second tier with Schalke. And this morning it was claimed the Bundesliga giants were only looking for £850,000 for the player, well within Gers' reach.

There have even been swirling rumours that a fee may already have been agreed between the two clubs, so that would suggest a move may not be far off for Kabadayi. So with that in mind, Football Scotland has taken the chance to profile the player who may become a Ger.

Who is Yusuf Kabadayi?

Yusuf Kabadayi is a 20-year-old German winger who is contracted to Bayern Munich. His main position is on the left flank but he can also operate on the right or as a centre forward. Standing at 6ft1in he is of a relatively imposing stature for a winger.

He is of Turkish descent and played for them at under 15 and under 16 level before switching to he county of his birth and representing them through to under-20s level.

Born in the capital, he was initially in the youth set-up of the now defunct Eintracht München. Kabadayi joined Bayern in 2012. He progressed through the ranks and began playing for the German giants' second team in the regional leagues 2021-22, managing 13 goals across two seasons.

Schalke loan

After signing a two-year contract with Bayern last summer, Kabadayi moved on loan to Schalke to get regular game time in 2.Bundesliga. That proved worthwhile as he played 24 times in all competitions, bagging four goals.

Schalke had the option to sign him permanently but couldn't stump up the cash and Rangers are now believed to be in a transfer race with Bundesliga new boys St. Pauli and Serie A side Lecce.
