Zamalek president Mortada Mansour has confirmed that the club have reached an agreement with West Bromwich Albion over the transfer of Ali Gabr.
The defender will team up with the English Premier League side on loan till the end of the season with an option to make the deal permanent.
Gabr was an integral part of the team that qualified Egypt for their first World Cup in Russia since 1990.
While speaking to OnSport satellite channel, Mansour highlighted the agreement with the Baggies.
“Zamalek will receive €500,000. Their first offer was for €200,000,” Mansour said.
If the deal scales through, the defender will reunite with his compatriot, Ahmed Hegazi and Cameroon’s Allan Nyom.
West Brom are in the relegation zone after mustering 20 points from 24 league games and will be hoping to add the Egyptian to their rank in a bid to bolster their defence and possibly escape the drop at the end of the season.
