Manchester United have not announced anything official but according to reports Zlatan Ibrahimovic has left the club immediately, and it looks like the MLS is his destination.

Jose Mourinho had already admitted the 36-year-old would be leaving the club at the end of the season after his one-year extension expired, but it appears a deal has been made to allow him to leave early.

According to ESPN FC, LA Galaxy are the leading candidates to sign the Swede with the MLS 2018 season having got underway a couple of weeks ago.

“Zlatan – we all think it’s his last season at Manchester United and will be a very personal decision for him to play or to stop,” Mourinho said at the start of March.

“He has earned the right of choosing his life, his future – he is such an amazing player and had such an amazing career that only that awful injury in the wrong moment broke a fantastic couple of seasons he could and should have with us.

“This season is really difficult for him – he’s not injured. Does he feel totally happy, ready and convinced he’s in condition to help the team? No. But he’s such an honest guy and such a champion he only wants to be back with that feeling of: ‘I’m totally ready for it.’

“So he’s working hard and hopefully his evolution brings him to that level – he wants to have a positive answer.”

Ibrahimovic joined United on a free transfer in the summer of 2016 and took to life in the Premier League swimmingly, scoring 28 goals in 26 games, including the winner in the 2017 League Cup final over Southampton. He was also part of the United team that won the Europa League in May.

But this season chances have been hard to come by after the £75m signing of Romelu Lukaku. Prior to leaving this week, Zlatan had not played for United since being substituted during the home draw against Burnley on Dec. 26.

And despite retiring from international football, the Swedish legend could come out of international retirement for this summer’s World Cup, it has been reported.
