Logan Thompson made his postseason debut in net for the defending Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights in Game 1 of their opening-round series against the Dallas Stars on Monday night. Coach Bruce Cassidy went with the 27-year-old Thompson over Adin Hill, who had a 1.99 goals-against-average and two shutouts when Vegas beat the Stars in a six-game Western Conference Final last year. Knights captain Mark Stone also played in the series opener after missing 26 games since he lacerated his spleen on Feb. 20.
The Carolina Hurricanes rallied for a 3-0 deficit to beat the New York Islanders 5-3 in Game 2 for a 2-0 series lead.
Vegas Golden Knights captain Mark Stone booed after returning from injury. Islanders blow great chance to tie series with Hurricanes.
