Scores of small screen actors have transitioned into popular stars of the silver screen and have evolved over the years. This evolution has been an absolute one; they have bettered their skills, excelled at dialogue delivery, and acquired a dominating screen presence.
Here are 10 TV-artists-turned-movie-stars who have undergone drastic changes from their television days.

The Uri actress stepped into the small screen with NDTV Imagine's Chand Ke Paar Chalo, but most of us remember her as the 'Fair & Lovely' girl. After working in a handful of movies in the south, Yami, with new sense of styling, make-up and wardrobe, surprised us all in Total Siyappa. She is only getting better with every passing day. Surveen was first seen in Ekta Kapoor's Kahiin Toh Hoga that ran in the early 2000s. She played one of the younger sisters of the lead actress played by Aamna Shariff. The character essayed by Surveen was a typical of the serials of that era: laden with heavy jewelry, kohl-rimmed eyes and layers of fabric. The Surveen of today has shed quite many kilos and features a sharply chiseled face. There is a world of difference between the Vidya Balan of Hum Paanch and the Sullu we see today on the silver screen. There is no two ways about the actor's innate craft that has only enhanced with time. But, as evident, she had to invest a lot of time and effort on grooming herself as well. The end result is fabulous. Oh that weird make up of Badrinath from Chandrakanta! Irrfan Khan has come a long way since the days of dramatic eye make-up. Though not like the chocolate boys Shahid or Ranbir Kapoor of Tinsel town, the actor cuts a handsome figure that many regular Indian men find relatable. With acting that is so natural and effortless, in the jungle of Shah Rukh-Aamir-Salman-Saif, this Khan too has somehow found a ground for himself. What have stayed the same for Shah Rukh Khan is his bear-hair, and the perfect pout. With time, a battalion of stylists and the riches of the industry, the actor has grown manifolds and evolved into a whole new version of himself. However, one can't deny that the 'Raghavan' of Circus had that glimmer in him, that was just waiting to be discovered and glow to its full potential. This diva looks like a total alter ego of herself from the early 2000s. She was introduced to us as 'Krishna Tulsi' in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and then was seen in scores of TV shows before making inroads into the big screen, first as an 'item girl' and then as a full-fledged lead actress. What happened in the transitioning gap was a drastic make-over comprising extended work-out sessions at the gym. Do we also see more fuller lips? So do we count a few appointments with a cosmetic surgeon as well? She was a homely middle class girl in Zee TV's Pavitra Rishta. Chubbier cheeks, an innocent smile and conservative styling defined the character of 'Archana' that she essayed on the TV screen. Cut to - this super glamorous diva that shows up at the red carper events in designer ensembles. The cheekbones have grown higher, the eyes are sharper, the chin looks chiseled, and the glam quotient has jumped several notches up. Sushant Singh Rajput made his TV debut in 2009 with Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil but is widely remembered as 'Manav' of Pavistra Rishta. Luckily, he didn't have to struggle too hard to get his dream 'big screen' break, and in 2013 he bagged a role in Abhishek Kapoor's Kai po ChheThe . Kedarnath actor certainly looks more confident, well-groomed and captivating than his television days. The pic on the left in a screen-grab from Dil Mil Gaye, and the one on the right is a recent click of the actor shared by him on Instagram, and the looks couldn't be more contrasted.
