The best and worst rich country to be a child in
Each year, the UN-backed children’s organization UNICEF releases a report card, assessing how well countries around the world are meeting the needs of their children. The study is limited to “rich countries,” or strictly those with high- and middle-income economies.
There are 16 Sustainability Development Goals in the study, ranging from ending poverty and hunger, to achieving gender equality, to making cities safer. While the targets are ambitious, they’re part of an agreement made by the 41 included nations in 2015. You can read the full list of key indicators in the UNICEF Innocenti Report Card 14. Each country is then given an overall ranking based on how successfully it is addressing each of these goals.
