Everyone at Copenhagen Fashion Week Is Wearing This Winter Accessory

Street style at Copenhagen Fashion Week has gotten unpredictable. As Denmark's capital has gained global recognition as a true fashion hub, the crowds inside and outside the shows have grown with standout looks to match. Traditional "Scandi style" minimalism is still riding by in the bike lane or sitting in the front row, but more eccentric and unexpected outfits are just steps away. Sometimes quite literally—guests often make quick-changes for the photographers between events.

This season, smack in the middle of a frigid Denmark winter, fashion insiders weren't going to let a brisk wind or freezing rain dampen their commitment to a daring look. Knitted balaclavas styled with chunky sweaters, wooly scarves piled over woolier coats, and lug-sole boots made for stomping through puddles were clear necessities, whether guests were attending Aeron's knitwear-forward season opener at a community art studio, or Skall's minimalistic tea-time set at Design Museum Denmark. (Tea was indeed served—and so were jackets and sweaters with linings reminiscent of lace doilies.) But showgoers were also taking big swings in the accessories department: towering fuzzy hats, heart-shaped leather bags, and metallic boots so reflective they were practically a mirror. But if guests had to accept the forecast and wear a puffer? It was going to be a bright one.
