Rio 2016: Photos - Great Britain win hockey gold against the Netherlands

The women's hockey tournament couldn't have wished for a more dramatic finale than the one served up by Great Britain and the Netherlands on 19 August 2016. The Dutch showed why they are the no.1 team in the world in regulation time, putting GB under intense pressure for long periods and taking a 3-2 lead into the last 6 minutes. But the GB ladies stayed tough and pegged them back to 3-3, meaning a nerve-shredding penalty shootout. Goalkeeper Maddie Hinch became the hero with some cracking saves, while Helen Richardson-Walsh and Hollie Webb scored their attempts, giving GB a 2-0 victory and their first ever gold medal in the competition.

While the dramatic nature of Britain's comeback was thrilling, it was impossible not to feel for the defending champions the Dutch, who were superb. Over 9million viewers watched the match on the BBC. Holy wow.
