—To celebrate the Oct. 22 Season 8 premiere of  The Walking Dead — the series’ 100th episode — Yahoo TV will be posting a new TWD-related story everyday through the season opener.

It doesn’t get much darker or more dramatic in primetime than the stories of post-apocalyptic quest for survival The Walking Dead cast and crew bring us each week. But as this collection of 20 great behind-the-scenes photos from the AMC production show, this is a group who knows how to find — and make — moments of levity while unfolding such intense tales. Peruse our TWD family photo album for peeks at laughing enemies, bird-flipping walkers, and licking Norman Reeduses (yes, plural).
