  1. - - FISH 1-6 3-6 - GAME, SET & MATCH - Monaco streaks towards the end, Fish opening the game with a double fault before sending a backhand wide down the line and a backhand into the net to hand the Argentine three match points ... And what a brilliant volley to finish on from Monaco, as he dives down to his left for the reactionary stop volley that lands just over the other side of the net

  2. - - FISH 1-6 3-5 - Normal service is resumed from Monaco on, well, on serve. He races through a pretty cruisey game to leave himself potentially just one game away from the semi-finals of the Miami Masters. Fish will have to serve to stay in the match next ...

  3. - - FISH 1-6 3-4 - BREAK - Monaco earns himself an immediate break back point when Fish fails to land an admittedly tricky low forehand volley, which he instead puts into the net. And sure enough he does re-establish the break lead when Fish gets a racquet to a lob but can do nothing with it. The Argentine literally jumps for joy at winning that game!

  4. - - FISH 1-6 3-3 - BREAK - Once again there are a few signs that Monaco is getting nervy as he misses what should be an easy volley to allow Fish to go 0-30 up against serve. The Argentine fights back and levels with a forehand winner down the line after a 21-stroke rally but Fish earns himself a break back point from deuce when a defensive lob goes long from Monaco. And Fish does break when the Argentine sends a forehand wide down the line

  5. - - FISH 1-6 2-3 - Fish is forced to produce a huge backhand approach followed by a cross court forehand volley winner (after an incredible get from Monaco) to level at 30-30 and get himself out of another tricky spot on serve. And the American goes on to hold from there after consecutive mis-hit forehands from Monaco

  6. - - FISH 1-6 1-3 - There are just a few signs of hope for Fish for the first sign as Monaco finds himself at 30-30 on serve. But the Argentine comes up with a cracking second serve to set up a game point before finding a backhand winner down the line, which whizzs past a flailing Fish, to hold

  7. - - FISH 1-6 1-2 - Fish looks to be cruising towards a comfortable service hold at 40-15 up but back-to-back groundstroke errors allow Monaco to level up at deuce. Fish also squanders a game point with a forehand into the net. But he does manage to save a break point, when Monaco send a forehand long, before going on to hold

  8. - - FISH 1-6 0-2 - A love service hold from Monaco consolidates the break in this second set, Fish sending a forehand into the net to concede the game. The Argentine is playing some awesome tennis!

  9. - - FISH 1-6 0-1 - BREAK - Now the luck is going Monaco's way as well, as he opens the second set with a passing shot that catches the top of the tape and bounces over the Fish racquet. A forehand winner right on the sideline from Monaco brings up three more break points ... Fish saves the first with an ace and the second with a forehand winner. But Monaco breaks with a curling lob that should have landed well wide, only to curl back onto the line!

  10. - - FISH 1-6 - SET - A very solid service game once again from Monaco as he cruises through another hold to wrap up the set. The Argentine has got 96 per cent of his first serves in in that opening set! Very impressive from the birthday boy, who came into this match high on confidence after wins over Gael Monfils and Andy Roddick

  11. - - FISH 1-5 - BREAK - Fish thumps a forehand drive volley into the net to squander a game point and instead allows Monaco back to deuce. The Argentine goes on to earn himself another break point ... which once again he takes full advantage of, doing brilliantly well to get a smash back into court before Fish drills a backhand passing shot well wide across court. Monaco will serve for the opening set next ...

  12. - - FISH 1-4 - Monaco's first serve is really firing in the early stages of this clash. It's not the fastest on tour but he has enough pace and the variety is more than enough to keep Fish on his toes so that the Argentine can clean up behind it more often than not. And he goes on to hold to 30 when Fish's reactionary lob drops long of the baseline

  13. - - FISH 1-3 - Much better from Fish as he cruises out to 40-0 before dumping a backhand into the net as the only blemish on his first hold of the match

  14. - - FISH 0-3 - A very speedy service hold from Monaco consolidates the break, the game sealed with a huge first serve that Fish can only return long.

  15. - - FISH 0-2 - BREAK - Monaco allows himself a grin after completely framing a backhand volley but just doing enough that the fast-approaching Fish cannot quite get to it in time. A couple of points later, the Argentine gets a break point when Fish sends a backhand into the net. And sure enough, Monaco does grab the break after another Fish error, this time a wild forehand long of the baseline

  16. - - As has been pointed out on the comments below, today is actually Juan Monaco's birthday. The Argentine is now 28-years-old!

  17. - - FISH 0-1 - Fish gets up a little tentatively after doing the splits in the very first point of the game. But he bounces back pretty quickly and even gets himself 15-30 in front when Monaco hits a forehand long followed by a forehand into the net. A half-volley drop shot from Fish levels at deuce but Monaco goes on to hold without facing a break point when the American hits long

  18. - - Righto, the players are ready and it will be Monaco to get the clash underway by serving first ...

  19. - - But Fish and Monaco are now out on court, going through their warm-up as we speak. So we should be getting underway in about five minutes time

  20. - - These two players might have expected to be on court about an hour ago but Maria Sharapova and Caroline Wozniacki have only just completed their epic women's semi-final, which was the first match on court. Sharapova outlasts Wozniacki in Miami semi

  21. - - Two of those meetings have been on hard courts and two on clay with both players securing one win apeice on each surface - so there is little to choose between the two players on that front

  22. - - These two have faced each other four times before, splitting the head-to-heads at two wins apeice. Fish won their first two encounters, at the 2005 Australian Open and in Houston in 2006, while Monaco won both their meetings last year - at the World Team Championships in Dusseldorf and at the Paris Masters, although the win at the Paris Masters came when Fish retired at 2-1 in the third set

  23. - - Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal are already through to tomorrow's semi-finals, both having triumphed in three sets yesterday over Janko Tipsarevic and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga respectively

  24. - - Hello and welcome to LIVE coverage from the third of the Miami Masters quarter-finals between eighth seed Mardy Fish and 21st seed Juan Monaco
