  1. - - MONACO 6-7 6-3 6-7 6-3 6-4 - Monaco is serving for the match and he does so with a fine delivery that Raonic can't return. He sinks to his knees and he faces Nadal next. Ow. Men's draw

  2. - - MONACO 6-7 6-3 6-7 6-3 4-2 - BREAK! Monaco has gone a break up in the fifth, and he has followed with a hold. Can he close it out?

  3. - - MONACO 6-7 6-3 6-7 6-3 - SET! Monaco protects that lead from the break to 3-1 and he takes the fourth set, meaning we have a fifth. All the way baby!

  4. - - MONACO 6-7 6-3 6-7 3-1 - BREAK! This one had a sense of going the distance and it looks to be thus as Monaco breaks early in the fourth set.

  5. - - MONACO 6-7 6-3 6-7(5) - SET! Raonic takes the third set and his second 7-5 on a tiebreak. Monaco had battled back from 1-4 down to 5-5 but he goes long, then fails to return serve and the Canadian is ahead.

  6. - - MONACO 6-7 6-3 6-6 (1-4) - The third set goes to a tiebreak which Raonic initially takes charge of with a mini-break.

  7. - - MONACO 6-7 6-3 - SET! After dropping the first set on a TB the Argentine takes the second fairly comfortably with what was an early break.

  8. - - MONACO 6-7(5) - SET! 19th seed Raonic takes the first set 7-5 in a tie-break with the 13th seed.

  9. - - Two of the mid-seeds are in action now as Argentine Juan Monaco (13) faces Milos Raonic (19) of Canada. Occasional updates from here.

  1. I think why a lot of people are cheering for Raonic is because he has a serve that we haven't seen in the game for a long time. Reminds me of Goran Ivanisovic.

  3. Congrats to Juan for the big win. He was the higher seed so it was expected. He broke Milos 3 times and was never broken himself.

  4. Milos isn´t exactly fried, but I´d prefer to watch Rafa vs Juan, it´ll be really exciting! As well as Rafa and David, I enjoy watching players like Monaco, Fognini, Nalbandian or Montañes, who are born fighters!

  7. looking good for Monaco. Raonic is tiring. It's hard to move such a big body around for this long.

  8. And Juan also had the bad luck of losing both tiebreaks. I hope he can at least win this set and force a decider.

  9. Monaco had a chance in the 3rd set but messed up on his serve and that cost him the set. Don't count Juan out just yet. Whoever wins this match will give Nadal a good challenge.

  10. He was born outside of Canada but owes his life training to Canada

  11. Too bad both Monaco and Raonic are in Nadal´s side of the draw! Otherwise they could have both easily reached the quarters!

  12. Great Eddie, I understand that. Raonic isn't the best mover on the court, he still moves pretty well FOR THE BIG GUY. His game isn't just about serving good, even though that is his biggest strength. He has much more potential than Karlovic. Yes, Raonic may be compared to Del Potro, even though I'd give Del Potro more props for the time being. But I definitely can't say Monaco has overall advantage over Raonic, Canadian's form is pretty good and Monaco is pretty inconsistent.

  13. Monaco is developing into quite a player. He needs a breakthrough at a major. Probably not at the French Open. Too bad he's in Nadal's side of the draw.

  14. Vamos Juan!! This is clay, so I hope Juan gets to the last 16 and maybe Milos can make his breakthrough at Wimbledon.

  15. No idea... maybe he's referring to some comment made by a commentator?

    From espspa2063, on Sat 2 Jun 16:45
  16. Jacob, Just calling it like it is. He is just a big guy that has the big serve. His game is nothing likes Roger's, Rafa's or Nole's. Plain and simple. It's a fact that BIG GUYS just can't move around the court too well. Same goes for Delpo, Isner, Karlovic, etc. If you can't see that then I don't know what to tell you.

From Great Eddie, on Sat 2 Jun 16:45
  17. Roanic lives in Canada but was not born there. He is from the area of Croatia.

From Great Eddie, on Sat 2 Jun 16:42
  18. Great Eddie, why do you downgrade Raonic like this. Are you afraid to pair Rafa and him together ? Raonic is a better player. Yes, mostly because of his powerful serve, but powerful serve is one of "good game" elements, isn't it ? And he still moves pretty well up the court. By the way, comment no. 2 was a reaction to 'live commentary' statement about Raonic being from Croatia.

From Jacob Sabonis, on Sat 2 Jun 16:41
  19. What the heck does post #2 have to do with anything?

From Great Eddie, on Sat 2 Jun 16:38
  20. Vamos Juan. You can wear this big guy down. He can't run too much. He's more of a powerful server. Your game is much better.
