19:45 - DJOKOVIC 7-6 6-3 6-1 - He knows this might be his sole visit to Centre Court and Bobby Reynolds is trying everything to keep this contest ticking on a little more. We’re at 30-30 but that’s as close as the American’s going to get to breaking Djokovic this evening as the Serb takes the final two points with deft hands at the net. The two embrace, shake hands with the umpires, and the world number one is through unscathed.
19:40 - DJOKOVIC 7-6 6-3 5-1 - A fizzing crosscourt forehand gives Reynolds a 30-15 advantage, and plenty of vocal support from the Wimbledon neutral, but he soon nets when faced with game point for deuce. The Serb positions himself well in the next point to force another break chance. Saved again! If Reynolds could play every point like he was facing break point then the big four in men’s tennis would be a big five. Unfortunately he quickly hands the advantage back to his rival and is broken. All over.
19:35 - DJOKOVIC 7-6 6-3 4-1 - It’s almost lazy the way Djokovic is moving his opponent from side to side, but it’s really effective. Nothing for Reynolds to work with and many people’s Wimbledon favourite is just two games away from the third round.
19:32 - DJOKOVIC 7-6 6-3 3-1 - A single word uttered from Reynolds echoes around the Centre Court arena. We’ll term it as an expletive and not divulge more. His anger is perhaps justified as he hands Djokovic two break points but he harnesses it with two big serves to join his opponent in deuce. Crash, crash. Two more powerful serves keep our Bobby hanging in there. Just.
19:28 - DJOKOVIC 7-6 6-3 3-0 - Djokovic kicks up a second serve which Reynolds can’t deal with to take another game at haste. If you’re planning on cooking for Novak tonight then you best get cracking. He’ll be home soon…
19:26 - DJOKOVIC 7-6 6-3 2-0 - We must not forget that this is a mammoth effort from qualifier Bobby Reynolds. He’s poured so much energy into this match and tried to attack his opponent when given the chance. The problem is that the chance has rarely come. Reynolds' fourth double fault hands the Serb break point and a long American groundstroke all but ends this contest. The crowd, who were perhaps expecting an upset given recent happenings, are rather flat.
19:22 - DJOKOVIC 7-6 6-3 1-0 - It's all looking a bit easy for Djokovic at the moment as he strolls around the court with ease, picking off his opponent when he sees fit. Comfortable hold to love opens the third, and probably final, set.
19:19 - DJOKOVIC 7-6 6-3 - Hmmm, three set points fashioned with very little effort by Djokovic on his rival’s serve. But, as he’s done time and time again when facing break point, Reynolds responds as he drills a shot at the net past his opponent. It’s only halts the inevitable though as the American sends a forehand into the court divider. This match is all but over.
19:16 - DJOKOVIC 7-6 5-3 - Well Reynolds hasn’t figured out the Djokovic service puzzle just yet as the Serb shoots 40-0 ahead. Another looping Reynolds forehand sails past the baseline as the world number one remains in total control.
19:13 - DJOKOVIC 7-6 4-3 - Reynolds is growing into this set and races into a 40-0 lead. One clever twist at the net later and the American has held to love. He bounces back to his chair, pushes an energy gel into his mouth, as his mind starts whirring around its chosen subject: how to break the Djokovic serve.
19:10 - DJOKOVIC 7-6 4-2 - The Centre Court atmosphere lacks the electricity required for a major upset at present but Reynolds almost gets a sniff when a tame Djokovic forehand clips the net court before agonisingly bouncing in favour of the Serb. The American’s minor chance extinguished. Djokovic is forcing Reynolds to win any point three times, chasing down everything, and he sees out the game with a sweeping forehand.
19:03 - DJOKOVIC 7-6 3-2 - Djokovic draws Reynolds in with a deft drop shot and although the American reaches it, he can’t direct anywhere but onto the Serb’s racket. Two more break points for the world number one. First saved with an ace, the second netted by Djokovic. And the American refuses to give in and stays just the one break behind. Worryingly he’s faced 11 break points but on the plus side he’s saved ten of them.
19:01 - DJOKOVIC 7-6 3-1 - Very speedy service game from Djokovic and his opponent looks defeated.
18:58 - DJOKOVIC 7-6 2-1 - Djokovic launches a crosscourt backhand into the corner to put more pressure on the Reynolds serve. Break point number eight for the Serb and he should take it at the net but tries to be too clever with a drop shot which Reynolds leaps upon. A booming Serbian return quickly brings up chance number nine though and a triumphant cry of ‘Come on!’ from Djokovic tells you all you need to know about what happened next.
18:53 - DJOKOVIC 7-6 1-1 - Djokovic reaches wide to his left but can’t claw a Reynolds return back over the net and the qualifier is 0-30 ahead. Big moment. Djokovic is all over the place in the next point, Reynolds with a simple overhead to take it… He’s put it long! And Djokovic kicks a serve out wide for 30-30 before sweeping a forehand down the line for game point. Sealed with a swish of his right arm. Reynolds may not get a better chance than that.
18:50 - DJOKOVIC 7-6 0-1 - Reynolds can’t get himself in any of these baseline rallies as he quickly falls 0-30 behind. Come on Bobby, you’re all the SW19 crowd has got at the moment as the rain continues to fall outside the sanctity of your arena. A throng of overcoat-clad supporters are perched on Henman Hill/Murray Mount (delete as appropriate) cheering you on. These two gladiators are taking it in turns to make errors as the pendulum swings in deuce, before Reynolds seals it at the net. Great hold.
18:41 - DJOKOVIC 7-6 REYNOLDS - Advantage Djokovic as first Reynolds sends a forehand sailing past the baseline and then another into the tramlines. 3-0 to the Serb. All that earlier effort in this set is being rendered useless as a poor Hawk-Eye challenge mid-point hands his opponent a 5-0 lead. Reynolds responds with two big serves to register a couple of consolation points, but the Serb takes the set with a familiar out swinging ace. Very clinical tiebreak.
18:35 - DJOKOVIC 6-6 REYNOLDS - Come on then Bobby, hold it together. Ah, he’s double faulted. Not the best start. Djokovic cranks up the tempo in a fierce baseline rally to take control at 15-30 but an ultra-aggressive second serve from Reynolds helps him tie the scores. The set hangs in the balance as the game drifts into deuce, but the American refuses to give his rival a sniff of a break. Big Reynolds serving helps him over the line and it’s tiebreak time!
18:27 - DJOKOVIC 6-5 REYNOLDS - Delightful point at 15-15 sees both players manoeuvre the other around the court. Reynolds almost pinches it, but Djokovic somehow responds to force his opponent wide and seize the advantage. A sliced ace out wide books Djokovic’s ticket in the tiebreak. Can Reynolds join him?
18:24 - DJOKOVIC 5-5 REYNOLDS - Djokovic slips on the grass again and his composure briefly vanishes, which hands Reynolds just enough respite to hold to love. Pressure back on the Serb.
18:22 - DJOKOVIC 5-4 REYNOLDS - Not much to say about these Djokovic service games except that they are unstoppable. He loves a serve out wide does the Serb. We’re treated to a few more to send the scoreboard quickly flicking back in his favour.
18:18 - DJOKOVIC 4-4 REYNOLDS - Decent lob gets the American qualifier off to the ideal start in game numero eight. But Djokovic does what he does best and quickly asserts himself to level at 30-30. Not to worry, Reynolds sees his opponent net and then find the tramlines. He’s hanging in there. Top work.
18:13 - DJOKOVIC 4-3 REYNOLDS - No luck for Reynolds on the Djokovic serve as the Serb races through another game. Easy hold.
18:12 - DJOKOVIC 3-3 REYNOLDS - Good opening backhand rally eventually ends as Reynolds goes wide. Probably not the best tactic engaging Djokovic in a baseline rally. The Serb can race into a 0-40 lead here… But he puts his forehand wide and the chance evaporates. Reynolds claws his way into deuce. The momentum sways back and forth, with both players having chances, before Reynolds powers down an ace to hold. Djokovic took a little tumble in that game but he's moving fine now.
18:02 - DJOKOVIC 3-2 REYNOLDS - Ominous for Reynolds as his opponent’s serve powers past him again. We’re quickly at 40-0 again and a long return means Djokovic leads 3-2. Reynolds best hope is likely to be a tiebreak it seems.
18:00 - DJOKOVIC 2-2 REYNOLDS - Cracking shot from Reynolds as he lashes a serve straight at the line judge. Although the official smiles, he’s definitely hurting underneath his uniform as a bruise begins to form. It seems to have distracted Reynolds who finds himself serving to save two break points. Djokovic goes long with the first and nets the second. The American recovers to hold. Bit of a nerve settler that game.
17:54 - DJOKOVIC 2-1 REYNOLDS - Djokovic races through to 40-0 again but tries to be far too cute at the net, cocky perhaps, with a cheeky touch which goes horribly wrong. No problem though as he holds convincingly.
17:52 - DJOKOVIC 1-1 REYNOLDS - Nerves jiggling just slightly as Reynolds double faults for 30-30 but he quickly fires down a booming serve which the Serb can only net and he soon holds. He’s on the board.
17:50 - DJOKOVIC 1-0 REYNOLDS - Djokovic reals off the first three points but Reynolds responds with a wicked forehand. Big smash at the net hands the Serb the game.
17:47 - Just spotted European football legend Andriy Shevchenko in the crowd. Not sure what he thinks of London after his disappointing stint with Chelsea. Here we go… Djokovic to serve.
17:45 - Reynolds and Djokovic going through the classic warm up routine on Centre Court. A light rally, a few tame net shots, and an assortment of serves. One minute until crunch time.
17:38 - Reynolds is hardly going to be his sprightly usual self after a gruelling five set first round clash win over American Steve Johnson, a player to keep your eyes on, and Djokovic is unlikely to give him a few games to familiarise himself with the Centre Court cauldron. That said, Reynolds has nothing to lose, can be ultra-aggressive and hope to jump on the momentum created by Darcis, Stakhovsky & co. Fingers crossed for a Thursday evening classic. Here come the players...
17:36 - Although the big hitters have whipped out every ‘take one game at a time’ cliché in the book, you can bet Mr Djokovic was struggling to contain a wide grin when the draw kept his name separate from Nadal, Federer and Murray until the final. But after the destruction of two of his greatest foes, how is Novak feeling ahead of his second round match with Reynolds?
