  1. - - Nadal, then, is very comfortably through to the second week of the tournament. He's into the fourth round without dropping a set and he awaits the winner between John Isner and Philipp Kohlschreiber. Men's drawsheet.

  2. - - NADAL 6-4 6-3 6-3 - GAME, SET & MATCH! Nadal just rolls an 86mph serve in, catching the Croat unawares, to bring up three match points. But he only needs the one as he serves out with a ace out wide.

  3. - - NADAL 6-4 6-3 5-3 - Dodig races through a love service hold, sealing the game with an ace. Nadal has a long look at the court, seeing if there's a mark, but decides not to bother challenging at this stage in the match. It did look long though. The Spaniard will serve for the match next.

  4. - - NADAL 6-4 6-3 5-2 - Nadal gets caught on a slow approach to the net, Dodig flicking a forehand lob across court to try and catch the Spaniard out. But Nadal is so quick to change direction and tracks back to flick an outrageous backhand sliced winner across court on his way to another hold. Dodig will have to serve to stay in this third set after the change of ends.

  5. - - NADAL 6-4 6-3 4-2 - Dodig does well to withstand some major pressure from Nadal at 0-30 down and battles back to hold and at least remain vaguely in touch with the Spaniard.

  6. - - NADAL 6-4 6-3 4-1 - Nadal dinks a neat backhand volley across court for a passing shot winner despite Dodig being up at the net with him. That seals a service hold to 15 for the Spaniard who is now potentially just two games away from the win.

  7. - - NADAL 6-4 6-3 3-1 - BREAK! Nadal breaks the Dodig serve to love as the Croat's game completely breaks down. Consecutive forehand errors from Dodig followed by a backhand error hand Nadal three break points but the Spaniard only needs the one as he rattles off another forehand winner to continue his march towards the fourth round.

  8. - - NADAL 6-4 6-3 2-1 - Dodig posts a quick and easy service hold before Nadal again battles through his service hold, albeit not to deuce this time but rather 30. Nadal almost half-volleys a forehand passing shot down the line for a winner early on in the game before going on to hold with a cross court forehand winner.

  9. - - NADAL 6-4 6-3 1-0 - Dodig once again pushes Nadal to deuce, the Spaniard seemingly not wanting to go to the forehand as often as he was in the first set and a half. But a couple of winners, including one forehand, go flashing past the Croat as Nadal bounces back to hold to open the third set.

  10. - - NADAL 6-4 6-3 - SET! Nadal breaks with a feathered forehand across court that forces Dodig to get down low for the forehand volley. The Croat does at least get his racquet to the ball but he can't get it up and over the net and Nadal has the two sets to love lead.

  11. - - NADAL 6-4 5-3 - Nadal matches Dodig's love service game with one of his own, back-to-back aces sealing the hold that leaves him potentially just one game away from a two sets to love lead. Dodig will have to serve to stay in this second set, next.

  12. - - NADAL 6-4 4-3 - Dodig eases through a love service hold in what could have been a pretty tricky game for the Croat. A forehand volley winner brings up three game points for Dodig, which he then takes with a big serve that Nadal cannot return in play.

  13. - - NADAL 6-4 4-2 - Nadal has a much tougher time on serve than he has throughout the whole of the rest of this match as Dodig pushes him to deuce. But the Spaniard produces a huge forehand passing shot winner down the line to bring up another game point and this time he holds to comfortable maintain his break advantage.

  14. - - NADAL 6-4 3-2 - A sharply hit backhand return from Nadal has Dodig immediately scrambling as the Spaniard gets off the mark in the game with an inside out cross court forehand winner follow-up shot. But the Croat once again bounces back to hold with another couple of serves that the Spaniard cannot return in play.

  15. - - NADAL 6-4 3-1 - Even Nadal puffs out his cheeks in surprise when a very low flying aircraft heads over Arthur Ashe and causes a brief pause to the game. It's only a temporary respite for Dodig, however, as Nadal holds to love to consolidate his break advantage in this second set.

  16. - - NADAL 6-4 2-1 - BREAK! A forehand winner down the line from Nadal brings up two break points for the Spaniard. He looks genuinely surprised when he nets a backhand to squander the first but puts his return of serve deep on the second drawing the forehand error from Dodig to secure the break.

  17. - - NADAL 6-4 1-1 - Another bright and breezy love service hold from Nadal sees him level with Dodig early in this second set and keep the pressure on the Croat. The world number two is just looking supremely comfortable out on court today, doing enough to ease through this match so far but little more than he needs to.

  18. - - NADAL 6-4 1-0 - Nadal levels at 30-all with a well worked rally, coming into the net behind another huge forehand and slicing an aggressive backhand volley across court for the winner. But Dodig produces another couple of huge serves to avert the danger and hold for the opening game of this second set.

  19. - - NADAL 6-4 - SET! Three straight return errors from Dodig bring up three set points for Nadal. But he only need the one, firing an ace down the centre of the court, to wrap up the first set in 42 minutes.

  20. - - NADAL 5-4 - A comfortable hold from Dodig, who opens with an ace and a forehand volley winner, before going on to seal the love game when Nadal fails to land his forehand return. The Spaniard will serve for the opening set after the change of ends though.

  21. - - NADAL 5-3 - Dodig finally had the trainer out on court during that last change of ends to get his right calf strapped. A second double fault from Nadal to open the game followed, two points later, by a backhand volley winner from the Croat to give him a 15-30 lead for the first time. Successive unforced backhand errors from Dodig don't even make Nadal work to get back in the game and the Croat will have to serve to stay in it next after Nadal holds with a big first serve.

  22. - - NADAL 4-3 - Dodig produces his third ace of the match to comfortably hold for the loss of just the one point and stay within touching distance of the world number two in this opening set.

  23. - - NADAL 4-2 - A forehand down the line, a forehand cross court and a forehand winner down the line is the combo Nadal uses to hold to love once more and keep all the pressure on Dodig.

  24. - - NADAL 3-2 - Better from Dodig, who has called for the trainer, as he holds to 30 to keep the deficit down to just the one break. Big serving in that game from the Croat as he goes out wide on game point and draws the backhand return error from the Spaniard.

  25. - - NADAL 3-1 - Nadal races through a love service game to consolidate the break, three spinning forehand winners doing the bulk of the damage for the Spaniard, who also lands a couple of huge serves to draw the return errors from Dodig.

  26. - - NADAL 2-1 - BREAK! Dodig saves a first break point with a spot of serve and volley, a big serve out wide followed up by a sliced backhand volley winner across court in the opposite direction. But he can do nothing about the second and sends a forehand wide down the line to concede his serve.

  27. - - NADAL 1-1 - Perhaps more than any other of the top men's players, Nadal often displays nerves in the early rounds of a slam. Something else he often does is drop the first point of his service game and today's opening service game is no different for the world number two as he slaps down a double fault before going on to hold to 30 with a forehand winner.

  28. - - NADAL 0-1 - Nadal is frustrated when a let is called mid-rally by Alison Hughes in the chair. A peice of paper was blowing around the court behind Nadal, who is not happy with the call. You suspect that if the paper had been blowing around the other end where he could see it though, he would've have called for the decision. And Dodig goes on to hold to 30 when Nadal misses a backhand passing shot just wide down the line.

  29. - - These two are just about ready to go then and it will be Dodig to get the clash underway by serving first...

  30. - - Coming up next on Arthur Ashe will be world number two Rafael Nadal taking on Croat Ivan Dodig, who actually beat the Spaniard the last time they met in two tight tie-break sets. That was in Montreal a couple of years ago.
