MATT HARMON: It feels like we do this every year. It's an annual exercise. Brandin Cooks is, once again, still pretty underrated in fantasy. He was a guy that went undrafted last year, and especially early on in the season, was giving you legitimate week-winning upside. I think he gets tagged as a boring old veteran. He is labeled as "that guy" at this point in his career.
But really, Brandin Cooks is still under 30 years old, and a fast player overall. That game speed is still there for Brandin Cooks. You can basically lock him in for 23%, 24% of the Texans' targets. And I think Davis Mills actually looked pretty functional last year. He was better than some of those guys that were drafted ahead of him in the first round of last year's NFL draft.
It looks like Davis Mills is going to get the full starting crack for the Texans this year. And I think that's pretty decent news for Brandin Cooks. You can really draft him for kind of a safe season long floor, especially because with John Metchie-- the rookie-- out for the entire season. And really, the only other guy of intrigue in this passing game being fellow starting outside receiver Nico Collins, Brandin Cooks should just really dominate the target share there.
So he's not exciting. Not a sexy pick. But I do think he's a pretty good one this year. I've got him for 92 catches and over 1,000 yards, and he is my wide receiver 21 this year.
