Nebraska Train Derailment Caught on Security Camera

Security footage showed the moment 31 freight train cars derailed in Gothenburg, Nebraska, on Tuesday, February 21.

In the video, captured by CCTV by local business Gator Road Repair, shows tracks below train cars sparking before several can be seen tumbling off the tracks.

In a statement provided to Storyful, the Union Pacific (UP) railroad said no one was injured and no dangerous substances were released in the crash.

“Cleanup has begun, with heavy equipment on site. One of the three mainline tracks near the derailment site reopened to train traffic at about 8 am CST,” UP said.

The cause of the derailment was under investigation, UP said.
