'Problem Solved!' Amputee Jokes About Making Extra Legroom on Discount-Airline Flight

A double amputee from Winchester, England, joked about how he made extra legroom for himself on a discount-airline flight to Portugal recently by removing one of his prosthetic legs with a cheerful grin.

Video tweeted on May 15 shows Simon Harmer making a quip about the lack of legroom on Ryanair, before revealing one of his prosthetic legs, which he had removed.

“Problem solved,” he jokes to the camera.

“This video was a purely tongue-in-cheek laugh at legroom on a Ryanair flight and the fact that I had come up with a rather obscure solution,” Harmer told Storyful.

“It was a joke about my situation,” he added.

Harmer tweeted praise for the plane’s hardworking cabin crew, describing them as “awesome” and mentioning that “they grafted the whole flight.” Credit: Simon Harmer via Storyful
