East London Warehouse Allegedly Set on Fire by Britons Working for Kremlin

Two Britons have been charged with working with Russian intelligence services, and helping to commit a suspected arson attack on a Ukrainian-linked business in east London, UK officials announced.Twenty-year-old Dylan Earl and 22-year-old Jake Reeves are among five men accused of being involved in hostile activities benefiting Russia, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said in a news release on Friday, April 26.“Included in the alleged activity was involvement in the planning of an arson attack on a Ukrainian-linked commercial property in March 2024," officials said. The London Fire Brigade said eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters helped tackle the late-night blaze on the Staffa Road industrial estate, which damaged three single-story units. They added that no one was injured in the March 20 fire.Images shared by the London Fire Brigade on March 21 show thick smoke wafting around the warehouses, with the top of one building visibly charred and puddles on the ground, as firefighters brought the fire under control. The suspects were charged with “conducting hostile activity in the UK in order to benefit a foreign state,” the CPS said. “This is the first time the CPS has charged offenses available under new legislation created by the National Security Act 2023.”.
