Walker Buehler tossed his first career shutout against the Arizona Diamondbacks last month. “Not a great outing,” Buehler said after allowing two runs and six hits in five innings. Justin Turner picked up the Dodgers with a three-run homer in the fourth inning, helping them win their fifth straight overall.
It was a grind for Zac Gallen. Gallen pitched five effective innings, Daulton Varsho homered and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Chicago Cubs 3-1 on Thursday night, stopping a six-game slide. Gallen (3-0) allowed one run and two hits, continuing his strong start to the season.
Nathaniel Lowe is starting to feel better at the plate again for the Texas Rangers, and one big swing gave them a series sweep. Lowe hit a two-run homer on the first pitch in the bottom of the 10th inning and the Rangers, after blowing the lead in the ninth and falling behind in the top of the 10th, beat the Los Angeles Angels 6-5 on Wednesday night. “Right man, right spot," Rangers manager Chris Woodward said.
