Dylan Cease got into trouble over and over again. Cease showed off his poise while working five shutout innings, and the Chicago White Sox beat Aaron Civale and the Cleveland Indians 2-0 on Friday night. Cease made his big league debut last July and went 4-7 with a 5.79 ERA in 14 starts.
Eloy Jiménez has no interest in the designated hitter job with the Chicago White Sox. Jiménez was back in left field for Chicago's 2-0 victory over Cleveland on Friday, one night after an ugly misplay led to another round of questions over whether the talented slugger might be better off at DH. “I’m expecting that over time Eloy will fall into a good category on the defensive side and if it doesn’t, we’ll find ways to continue to augment his playing time out there,” manager Rick Renteria said.
Zach Plesac tossed six strong innings and the Cleveland Indians snapped a scoring drought with a six-run fourth in a 7-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Saturday. The Indians had been blanked for 13 innings before Franmil Reyes and Jordan Luplow each hit a two-run homer in the fourth. Luplow was 0 for 21 with a walk this season before homering.
