Best artificial plants for the home

Artificial plants have had a bad rap over the years.

The ones you’d find nestled in the aisles at homeware stores or garden centres were cheap - and they looked it. But luckily for us foliage fans, new brands are here to switch up the faux flower market and we think they’ll fool even the most discerning horticulturist.

Houseplants are considered an essential part of the interiors process. Whether it’s the Instagram effect for aesthetically-pleasing interiors, or the fact that many of us live in compact urban apartments without gardens, there has been a huge surge in popularity to fill our homes with succulents and seasonal blooms.

A small design detail that can make a huge difference, these plants give a pop of colour that is welcomed in rentals where painting walls or replacing furniture is not an option.

Our plant babies become focal points in our homes, sitting pride of place among our curated bookshelves, tablescaping or shelves. But with all the care, love and attention we are willing to devote to them, some of us are simply not blessed with green fingers. That’s where faux varieties come in.

There’s certainly many advantages to these plants. No upkeep, no commitment and all the mood-boosting joy and realism of a live plant. Continually forgetting to water your plants? No longer. Heading on a two week holiday (a girl can dream)? No problem. Your greenery will still be as vibrant as the day you left - nowilting leaves or dry stems. Tired of sweeping up leaves? You have better things to spend your time doing. The only downside? No fragrant floral aroma.

Real, fresh blooms can also wreak havoc on allergies, particularly those with hay fever and can be poisonous to our beloved pets.

These artificial plants have an impressive attention to detail that gives them all the realism of a live plant. They boost your mood with vibrant hues, freshness and cottage garden feels without the admin of watering and maintaining.

See our pick of the best.
