Turkey were the only team to pick up three points from the opening round of Group D games after managing a hard-earned 2-1 comeback win in their tricky trip to Armenia. Meanwhile, Croatia were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Wales, who snatched a last-gasp equaliser in the third minute of stoppage time, cancelling out Andrej Kramaric's first-half opener. Despite that setback, Croatia are also in the midst of a decent run of form, as their only defeat in 14 games came in their 3-0 loss to Argentina in the semifinals of the Qatar World Cup, while their last defeat away from home outside a finals tournaments was in June 2021 (0-1 in Belgium).
