10 Arsenal transfers Mikel Arteta could complete as soon as January window opens
The January transfer window is just around the corner, and Arsenal will soon have the opportunity to strengthen their squad.
Mikel Arteta's side are currently in third place in the Premier League table and and nine points adrift of leaders Liverpool. The Gunners will be hoping to close the gap on the Merseyside club in the second half of the season, and could look to the transfer market to increase their chances.
It remains to be seen what business Arsenal will plan to complete in January if any at all. A lot will depend on the budget available, but the Gunners will also be mindful of the bargain deals that may also be an option in the New Year.

From January, players whose contracts expire at the end of the season will be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of the country in the league they play in. For Arsenal, this will mean Premier League players are off-limits, so the Gunners won't be able to agree deals for the likes of Mohamed Salah, Kevin De Bruyne, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Son Heung-Min and Virgil van Dijk.
There are players across Europe, though, that Arsenal will be able to open talks with should they wish to do so. Bayern Munich have three players who are out of contract next summer, for example.
Alphonso Davies, Leroy Sane and Joshua Kimmich all see their current deals expire at the end of the season. Reports have suggested that all three of the trio remain in talks over potential extensions, but at the time of writing, they all see their contracts expire next summer.
Lille duo Jonathan David and Angel Gomes are also out of contract next summer. The duo have been heavily linked with moves away from the Ligue 1 club, with some suggestions an exit may be possible in January so Lille avoid losing either of the stars on free transfers at the end of the season.
Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah sees his current deal expire at the end of the season. Tah was tipped to leave Leverkusen last summer after helping the German club win the Bundesliga title, and was heavily linked with Bayern Munich, but looks increasingly likely to leave on a free transfer when the summer transfer window opens.
Ferland Mendy (Real Madrid), Franck Anguissa (Napoli), Olivier Boscagli (PSV Eindhoven) and Cucho Hernandez (Columbus Crew) are other players who see their current deals expire next summer. It remains to be seen if the free agent market is one Arsenal plan to explore, but if they do it seems there are several options at their disposal.
