10 players set to miss Newcastle United clash but Wolves get major injury and illness boost
Newcastle United could face a lot stronger Wolverhampton Wanderers side at St James' Park on Wednesday night after the visitors received a team selection boost. The relegation-threatened side will welcome back a number of key men to their ranks for the trip to Tyneside.
Both teams head into the game with a number of injury issues. For Newcastle, Harvey Barnes has been ruled out, joining Nick Pope, Jamaal Lascelles, Emil Krafth and Callum Wilson on the sidelines. The five Magpies players could be joined in the stand by others, with boss Eddie Howe still having doubts over Sven Botman, Joe Willock, Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak, after the quartet missed the FA Cup win over Bromley on Sunday due to niggling injuries, though they are expected to be involved against Wolves.
Howe said: "We'll have a look at them again today. They were left out with genuine reasons, all different things, but nothing major we hope. So minor problems that we needed to settle down. Fingers crossed, they'll be there or thereabouts."

For Wolves, much like the Magpies, they have five players definitely unavailable. They will be without Yerson Mosquera, Enso Gonzalez, Sasa Kalajdzic, Boubacar Traore and Toti Gomes. The quintet are all long-term injuries. However, Wolves boss Vitor Pereira has revealed that key trio Matheus Cunha, Craig Dawson and Nelson Semedo are all in line to return.
Cunha has been suspended after an incident at the end of the controversial clash against Ipswich Town where he was involved in an altercation with a member of the Tractor Boys' staff. The influential attacker has served his two-game ban and will be the Wolves dangerman at St James' Park.
Defensive duo Dawson and Semedo have both been out injured. Centre-half Dawson has been suffering from a calf injury while full-back Semedo has had hamstring issues.
"Nelson, Cunha and Dawson will be ready for the match," revealed Pereira. "They are coming from injury and we need to be careful with minutes, but we need players with their quality."
Pereira also confirmed that Mario Lemina is available for tomorrow's match, after illness. The defensive midfielder, however, is not certain to feature after expressing a desire to leave. On Lemina's future, Pereira admitted: "It's an issue he must solve with the club. We know what he wants and we now have to solve the issue. I expect him to be professional."
