18-4A Baseball: Madisonville gets past Rusk, 7-6, in 8 innings

Apr. 19—RUSK — Madisonville scored one run on a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to nip Rusk, 7-6, Friday night at Eagle Park.

The game was played in back-and-forth fashion with the Mustangs (15-10, 4-5) jumping out to a 5-1 lead after two frames.

The Eagles (10-17-2, 1-8) tied things up after adding four runs in the fourth.

Rusk then plated one run in sixth, to offset the run Madisonville scored in the top of the segment.

Ethan Foster had a big night at the plate for the Eagles. He went 4-4, with a double and a RBI.

Kade Blankinship stroked a base hit and knocked in a run for the Red and Black.

Foster suffered the loss on the hump for the Eagles. He pitched 1.2 innings in relief of the Rusk starter, Tilton Beard. Foster gave up five run, all unearned, on three hits. He fanned two and walked one.

The Eagles will close out the regular season by entertaining Jacksonville at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Both teams have been eliminated from playoff contention.
