2,000 reasons to join Watford Half Marathon field
The largest number of runners since before the pandemic is set to take to the start line for Sunday’s Watford Half Marathon – and it is not too late to join them and be in with a chance of winning £2,000.
Almost 2,000 people have so far signed up for the popular annual event that starts and finishes in Cassiobury Park and organisers Active Training World are expecting that number to grow to more than 2,000 on Sunday.
As an additional incentive for signing up, one competitor will be chosen at random and will win a £2,000 cash spot prize.
Full details about the race can be found at https://www.atwevents.co.uk/e/atw-watford-half-marathon-8841.
The racing will get under way in the park at 9.30am with a 1.8km fun run, giving parents and supporters a chance to cheer on their young athletes.
The main race will then start at 10am, the same time as a new 10k.
This will take participants along a fully closed route from the park into Langley Way and onto Cassiobury Drive. Runners will then turn into Grove Mill Lane and run alongside the Grand Union Canal before returning to the park.
A lead car escort will take participants on the half marathon route into the country lanes behind The Grove and golf course, through Bucks Hill, Commonwood Common and Chandlers Cross before heading back to Cassiobury Park.
