The end of the January transfer window is approaching, and despite plenty of speculation surrounding a load of Premier League clubs, it's been a pretty quiet month.

Manchester City has spent big on several players, with Pep Guardiola looking to arrest his team's shocking slump which began around three months ago, but Aston Villa and Ipswich are the only other top-flight teams that have spent £20million ($25m) or more on a player during January.

There has not been much strong speculation regarding incomings at Liverpool, but there was some talk earlier on in the window about possible departures for Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa, although that seems to have died down over the last week or so.

The window will close in a week's time (on Monday, February 3), and Liverpool.com has looked at what a dream end to the transfer window might look like for the Reds.

Nobody leaves!

Nunez and Chiesa were both linked with moves to Serie A but the rumor mill has slowed down on both players, and that has seemed to coincide with Nunez's match-winning exploits at Brentford and Chiesa's increased game time in recent weeks.

It's crucial that Arne Slot keeps this group of players together for the second half of the season as the Reds fight for glory on four fronts, and that obviously means Trent Alexander-Arnold staying put too.

Real Madrid has seemingly given up on trying to sign the right-back this month after making an approach earlier on in the window, and while Conor Bradley may be a brilliant prospect, Alexander-Arnold's experience could be crucial in the run-in.

A new No.6

This one is unlikely, but some Liverpool fans are concerned that Arne Slot is running Ryan Gravenberch into the ground, and think a back-up No.6 would be a good addition.

The Dutchman has started in all of Liverpool's 29 games across the Premier League and Champions League, and although he has been substituted in a few games recently, Slot clearly does not fancy handing Wataru Endo a start in his place.

Arsenal appears to have won the race to sign Martin Zubimendi, with the Real Sociedad man seemingly set to move to North London in the summer, but if a viable alternative emerges this month, a move should be considered.

New contracts

Liverpool's window to tie Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah down to new contracts does not close when the January transfer window closes, but the sooner their situations are resolved, the better.

Alexander-Arnold looks likely to leave, while there has not been much in the way of encouraging updates around the futures of Van Dijk and Salah either.

If Liverpool can tie one or both of them down soon, that would be a massive boost to the squad's morale going into the business end of the season.
