Uruguay knocked Portugal out on Saturday night and there is now a mouthwatering quarter final in store with France.
But the Wycombe Wanderers forward believes they should have been given more respect from the start.
“Uruguay for me were never dark horses,” he said. “They have so many great players and they are so organised.
“Importantly they have two world class strikers, like him or hate him Luis Suarez is certainly that. Edinson Cavani has been outstanding, and took his goals so well.
“They are the international version of Atletico Madrid, the way they play to their strengths.
“They’ve got France next and that’s going to be the game! Whoever wins it will have the confidence to really kick on.
“Uruguay have won four in a row now. It will be a very, very tasty game. I can’t wait for it.”
