Leeds United return to Elland Road on Saturday for the first time since the 7-0 win over Cardiff City that started this month in style.

Not since March 1972 had a Leeds team scored so many during one of their home matches. On the fourth of that month, they beat Southampton by the same scoreline. Ten days after that famous fixture, The Godfather premiered.

Marcelo Bielsa drew comparisons to the Godfather while in charge of the Whites; however, Daniel Farke has now achieved a feat not seen since the days of Don Revie in the dugout. Those seven against Cardiff took them to 60 goals in the Championship, with the two at Coventry in midweek moving them onto 62.

That is more than double the amount this weekend's opponents, Millwall (30), have managed in the league this season. The same applies to Hull City (31), Luton Town (30), Plymouth Argyle (29) and Stoke City (28).

However, their goalscoring is not just unmatched in the second tier. No team in League One has more than Wycombe Wanderers' 55, with Walsall top scoring with one less in the division below and Liverpool only mustering 56 in the Premier League.

On the continent, Barcelona hit 60 in their last match, but Inter and Paris Saint-Germain are both in the mid-50s. Bayern Munich are the only club from Europe's top five leagues that can match Leeds, thanks to a 4-3 win to start this month.

To find a team that can top the Whites, you must return to Blighty and go down to the sixth-tier and National League South leaders Dorking Wanderers, who have scored 64. That perhaps justifies why the club did not sign a striker during the winter transfer window despite links to Southampton pair Adam Armstrong and Cameron Archer on deadline day.
