49ers Enterprises sent transfer message as pundits agree on Leeds United's January priority
Leeds United owners 49ers Enterprises have been urged to complete an ambitious transfer swoop for Aston Villa playmaker Emi Buendia. The Argentine looks increasingly likely to leave Villa Park before the closure of the transfer window.
First team football has been in short supply for Buendia this season. Villa boss Unai Emery has an array of attacking talent at his disposal and may allow the 28-year-old to move on before the market closes on February 3.
Buendia was a transfer target for the Whites last summer but the attacking midfielder ended up staying put. A number of European clubs are said to be tracking Buendia, including Besiktas and Bayer Leverkusen.

Former Crystal Palace and Birmingham City striker Clinton Morrison told Football League World: "I think it would be a great signing. I’ve always said Leeds are my favourites (for promotion). If you look at their bench its so strong so the players they’ve got who can come off the bench and make an impact are exceptional.
"I think Buendia is a class act. The reason he hasn’t become a regular at Aston Villa was because he picked up a serious (ACL) injury which held up his progression and how he was doing.
"Going to Leeds and going to play regular football and getting promotion to the Premier League, it’s a great fit for both. It’s a good fit for Buendia and a fantastic fit for Leeds.
"I think if they do get him, they go out and win the league outright. I think they win it outright with the squad they’ve got now, but he gives you that little bit of X-Factor and he’s outstanding."
Like Morrison, Paul Robinson reckons Buendia could be the missing piece in the United jigsaw. The former United shot-stopper told MOT Leeds News: “They’re the type of signings that excite fans. With the names being linked, you’re not going to get excited over a centre-half, but with Buendia, we know he can do it at this level.
“He scores goals, whether plays wide, off the main striker, or just in the No.10 role. Aaronson has done okay in recent weeks but Buendia is a step up from Aaronson. If he comes in, he plays in the No.10 role.
"Buendia would absolutely play – he’s a top player. He’s not the No.9 that’s going to score 15 to 20 goals and guarantee promotion, but where they are now, 17 points ahead of sixth place, the very worst case is play-offs.
“Automatic promotion is almost a must, and with a small investment in the squad this month, they can ensure that. Signing Buendia would add a lot of quality. That would be a great signing.”
