Kopek Des Bordes - Supreme Novices’ Hurdle

Kopek Des Bordes created a huge impression when winning by 13 lengths on his bumper debut at Fairyhouse last season and he also showed he has a big engine when overcoming a sloppy round of jumping to make a successful start over hurdles at Leopardstown over Christmas.
Kopek Des Bordes jumped much more fluently when upped in class for the Grade 1 novice hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival and that helped him produce a significantly improved display. Kopek Des Bordes has a Timeform rating of 154P – with the large P showing he’s capable of much better form – and he is 5lb clear of Romeo Coolio at the head of the novice hurdle division.
East India Dock – Triumph Hurdle
There are some potential improvers in the Triumph Hurdle, but they’ll need to take a big step forward if East India Dock runs to the same sort of level he showed when bolting up on Cheltenham Trials Day. Useful Flat recruit East India Dock was making it three from three over hurdles and earned a Timeform rating of 147p, which means he is already rated higher than a typical winner of the Triumph Hurdle in the last ten years (around 145). East India Dock is 7lb clear of Hello Neighbour at the head of Timeform’s weight-adjusted ratings and is the one to beat.
Lark In The Mornin – County Handicap Hurdle
Lark In The Mornin proved his effectiveness around Cheltenham when improving on his previous efforts over hurdles to win the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle at last year’s Festival and he looks primed to launch another bold bid, this time in the County Hurdle. He has raced only twice since last year’s Festival, finishing fifth in the Swinton at Haydock in May and then seventh in another big-field handicap at Leopardstown over Christmas, but the late headway he made last time caught the eye of Timeform’s reporter who awarded him the Horse In Focus Flag to identify him as one likely to be of interest.
Dinoblue – Mares’ Chase
Dinoblue had to settle for second behind Limerick Lace in last year’s Mares’ Chase but looks capable of going one better. She was ridden with greater patience than usual trying the trip for the first time over fences and she saw it out thoroughly, staying on well up the hill but unable to overhaul a rival who secured first run. Dinoblue is likely to be ridden more prominently this time and arrives in form having run up to her best when beating stablemate Allegorie De Vassy (who was in receipt of 6lb) by a neck at Naas. She is 1lb better off with the runner-up here.
Angels Dawn – Hunters’ Chase
Angels Dawn showed useful form when winning the Kim Muir Handicap Chase two seasons ago and was in the process of running to a similar level, looking likely to be placed, when falling at the second last in the same event 12 months ago. Even a conservative reading of her form in handicap chases places her 8lb clear on Timeform’s weight-adjusted ratings for the Hunters’ Chase, and she has won both starts in points.
