£70m Marc Guehi transfer, Axel Disasi decision - Tottenham dream defence
Tottenham have made a £70million bid to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace. The 24-year-old, who has less than 18 months left on his contract, has been a serious target for the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle after impressing in a Palace shirt since his move in summer 2021.
Eddie Howe's Magpies were close to signing him in the summer but couldn't close out a deal. After a slow start to the season, England international Guehi has been integral to Palace's recent excellent defensive record, having kept four clean sheets in their last five matches across all competitions.
It's no surprise that he is wanted once again in the January window and Spurs are keen to sign him before Monday's 11pm deadline. A £70m bid has come in from Ange Postecoglou's side, though Palace have rejected it. They are eager to keep Guehi at Selhurst Park until at least the summer.

While Spurs were impressive from a defensive point-of-view against Brentford on Sunday and kept just their second Premier League clean sheet since November, they could do with signing another centre-back before the end of the window - and one who would come straight into the XI.
Kevin Danso arrived on a loan deal from Lens over the weekend, while Micky van de Ven returned from a hamstring injury against Elfsborg on Thursday but it does feel like Spurs are still one short in central defence. Ben Davies and Archie Gray - neither of whom are centre-backs - started there against Brentford.
Radu Dragusin is set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury against Elfsborg and Cristian Romero is still out, meaning Spurs are still lacking one more body at the back.
Guehi, who has been capped 22 times by England, would represent a 'dream' deadline day attention for Spurs, there is no doubt about it. He would strengthen that defence and be a solid addition who can help Ange Postecoglou's men climb the Premier League table and in other competitions.
Axel Disasi is another that has been linked with a move to Tottenham, and even if a deal does appear off, Spurs should avoid even trying to sign him. Their focus should be on Guehi and if they can get a move confirmed in the next nine hours, that would be one of the transfers of the month.
As for players departing, Spurs shouldn't allow anyone to leave. Their squad is thin as it is, and with Sergio Reguilon as the only senior defender on the bench against Brentford, Tottenham need to keep what they got.
With this in mind, the 'dream' defence after deadline day would be: Destiny Udogie, Sergio Reguilon, Djed Spence, Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin, Cristian Romero, Kevin Sanso, Marc Guehi, Ben Davies and Pedro Porro. Archie Gray therefore would move into midfield.
