Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has dropped a hint on social media that he may be leaving the club this summer.

The England international has dropped down to second choice at the Emirates Stadium this season with summer signing David Raya taking his place in goal. It has led to reports that Ramsdale could leave the club in the summer in search for more regular football.

It was reported on Friday that he had ‘agreed’ to join Premier League rivals Newcastle United when the transfer window opens. That was however denied by the player himself , who took to X (formerly Twitter) to simply write: “News to me” with a laughing face emoji.

football.london reported earlier in the season that Ramsdale turned down a potential move from a club in the bottom half of the table. A move to Newcastle could however appeal to him, especially if the club qualify for European football again next season.

Just hours after posting the denial about the agreement with Newcastle, Ramsdale has now sent a hint that he will be moving on from Arsenal in the summer. The goalkeeper shared a short video on his Instagram stories showing some shoes that have been given to him by Arsenal Women’s defender Lotte Wubben-Moy.

The video shows a message written on the top of the box that reads: “Aaron, gutted I won’t get the chance to see you rocking these at the training ground. Comfiest things in the world, enjoy! Catch you around, Lotte.”

Wubben-Moy is a key player for Arsenal as first choice centre-back for the team, meaning that it is very unlikely that she will move on in the summer. It therefore hints that people around the training ground expect Ramsdale to leave before the start of the new season.

Whether that’s to Newcastle or to another team is still to be seen. If he does move to St James’ Park then Ramsdale will be competing with England teammate Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka for the starting place.
