Aaron Ramsey's Arsenal career over after hamstring injury rules him out for season

Aaron Ramsey looks to have played his final game for Arsenal after being ruled out for the rest of the season with injury.

The Welsh midfielder, who is set to leave the club for Juventus this summer, picked up a hamstring injury during the Gunners’ 1-0 Europa League quarter-final second leg win over Napoli earlier this month.

Speaking ahead of the semi-final first leg match against Valencia, manager Unai Emery seemed to confirm that Ramsey’s Emirates Stadium career is over.

“Yes. We cannot use him. We have players but really he was in a good moment when he got his injury,” he said.

“For me it’s a good experience with him. His heart is red.

“I want to enjoy with him. I want to do something important with him. He is not on the pitch but he is with us.”

The midfielder star ends an 11-year spell in North London after joining the club from Cardiff as a teenager.

After a bright start at the club, Ramsey suffered a career-threatening leg break following a horror tackle from Stoke’s Ryan Shawcross in 2010.

Following his recovery, Ramsey established himself as a first team regular and one of the key players under previous manager Arsene Wenger.

The Wales international etched his name into Arsenal folklore by scoring the winning goal in Arsenal’s 3-2 FA Cup final win over Hull City in 2014.

Ramsey repeated the trick three years later as his header sealed a 2-1 win over Chelsea, giving the Gunners a record 13th FA Cup victory.

The Caerphilly-born star also featured in the 2015 cup final as Arsenal hammered Aston Villa 4-0.

Ramsey leaves the club having made 369 appearances, scoring 64 goals in total.

Club captain Laurent Koscielny paid tribute to his departing teammate: He loves this club He played 100 per cent for the club. We will miss him a lot.

“I think the first FA Cup we won together he gave us this trophy. It was a good memory.”
