Aberdeen will face Dunfermline in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup following their comfortable victory over Elgin City.

The Dons dumped the League Two side out of the competition with goals from Shayden Morris and Duk, ensuring there would be no cup upsets in Moray, much to Jimmy Thelin's delight.

It brings to an end their 12-game winless run, but despite that form hopes of a first Scottish Cup success since 1990 will once again be heightened among the Red Army.

They reached the semi-finals last season under Peter Leven's watch, going the full 120 minutes in a thrilling battle with Celtic only to miss out on penalties.

But they will now be looking to take the next step back to Hampden, and standing in their way of the quarter-finals is the Pars who will make the trip to Pittodrie.

Their pairing comes just a day after Jimmy Calderwood's passing, with the 69-year-old having previously managed both sides in the 2000s.

Fifth round ties will take place on the weekend of Saturday, February 8 - in between Aberdeen's trips to Hibs and Dundee in the Premiership.
