Aberdeen will face Queen's Park in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals after beating Dunfermline in the fifth round.

The Dons continued their cup run with a 3-0 victory over the Pars in what was just their second victory of the year; the other also coming in the cup against Elgin.

But they now face a much tougher test than expected after the Spiders' stunning cup upset which saw Rangers dumped out of the competition with a 1-0 defeat at Ibrox.

Jimmy Thelin’s men are hoping to go all the way and bring the trophy back to Pittodrie after 35 years, but fans will be hoping to see the momentum turn results around in the league.

Last time Aberdeen won a Premiership victory was against Dundee back in early November, and they will be facing the Dark Blues this weekend with huge implications for both sides.

Callum Davidson's men however are dreaming of a shock semi-final appearance after Seb Drozd's winner knocked out the 34-time winners of the Scottish Cup leaving Philippe Clement's Gers in disarray.

Drozd entered Scottish football folklore when he came off the bench to fire in a stunning winner after 69 minutes for the Championship side.

There was more drama when Rangers were awarded a penalty deep into added time but skipper James Tavernier's spot kick was brilliantly saved by Calum Ferrie to confirm the Spiders’ place in the quarter-finals/

A day out at Hampden awaits the winners of the quarter-finals however, and with the Scottish Cup proving to bring some joy for the Red Army they will be hoping for more of the same in their next outing.

The quarter-final ties will take place on the weekend of Saturday, March 8 - in between Aberdeen's clash with Dundee United at Pittodrie and a trip to Kilmarnock.
