Aberdeen to honour Jimmy Calderwood with special gesture from Scottish Cup tie
Aberdeen will pay tribute to former manager Jimmy Calderwood during their Scottish Cup fifth round clash against Dunfermline Athletic with a special ticket gesture.
The Dons will be donating £1 from every ticket sold at Pittodrie to the Alzheimer Scotland charity after the former manager's passing earlier this month.
Calderwood, who managed both the Reds and the Pars, sadly passed at 69 after being diagnosed with early onset dementia in 2017. Known for his passion for the game, the Glaswegian brought success and excitement to the teams he led.

Calderwood’s time at Aberdeen was equally notable. In the 2007-08 season, he masterminded a thrilling run in the UEFA Cup, famously defeating Dnipro and holding tournament favourites Bayern Munich to a 2-2 draw at Pittodrie, a match fondly remembered by Dons fans.

During his tenure at Dunfermline, Calderwood achieved promotion from the Scottish second tier in 2000 and guided the club to a record breaking fourth place finish in the top flight in 2004. He also led the East End Park outfit to the Scottish Cup final in the 04-05 season, with memorable victories over Inverness CT, Partick Thistle and Clyde, before losing to Celtic in the final.
Aberdeen's decision to honour Calderwood highlights his enduring legacy and the deep respect both clubs have for their former manager. Fans attending the match will not only witness an exciting clash in the Scottish Cup but also contribute to a meaningful cause.
Alzheimer Scotland provides vital support to individuals and families affected by dementia and works to raise awareness of the condition.
