Aberdeen looking to 'hijack' Lyall Cameron transfer from Dundee to Rangers
Aberdeen are reportedly looking to 'hijck' Rangers' efforts to bring Lyall Cameron to Ibrox, with the Dundee midfielder's contract up in the summer.
Record Sport revealed last week that the Light Blues were working on a deal to land the talented youngster when his Dens Park deal expires.
Technical director Nils Koppen insisted he wants the club to sign the best Scottish talent from elsewhere in the Premiership each season. They did so last term by snapping up former Dons midfielder Connor Barron in the summer, which a transfer tribunal determined they should pay £640,000 for.

Now, the Daily Mail reports that Aberdeen are attempting to get their own back by persuading Cameron that a switch to Pittodrie would be better for him in the long term, with more chance of regular first team football, writes the Daily Record.

The Dons can't compete with the salary on offer from Ibrox, but can to point to the career progression of the likes of Kenny McLean, Ross McCrorie, Lewis Ferguson and Bojan Miovski, who all flourished in the Granite City before earning big money moves to England or the continent. Like Barron, any club that signs Cameron will be due training compensation to the Dens Park club for the 22-year-old. If a figure can't be agreed through negotiation, then it's back to the independent tribunal to decide.
Dundee boss Tony Docherty is still holding out hope of Cameron signing a new deal at Dens, with fellow academy graduate Josh Mulligan also approaching the end of his deal.
Docherty said: "A couple have come back saying they’ll sign, others want to wait and that’s their prerogative. Lyall’s in that category. But I’m still hopeful."
