Aberdeen Women secured their place in the Women’s Scottish Cup quarter final with a dominant 3-0 victory over Hamilton Academical at Balmoral Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Despite a cagey opening, a flurry of late goals from Kerry Beattie, Bailey Ogilvie and Eva Thomson ensured the Dons continued their fine run of form, making it three consecutive wins in all competitions.

Manager Scott Booth made several changes following their midweek win against Montrose WFC, bringing in Nicola Jamieson, Holly McEvoy and Emily Kraft to the starting lineup.

The Dons dominated possession in the first half, nearly opening the scoring after a slick passing move orchestrated by Holly McEvoy. Emily Kraft’s clever touch teed up Hannah Stewart, who fired narrowly wide.

Hamilton had their best chance 20 minutes in when Sophie Townsley found space in the Aberdeen penalty area, but hesitation allowed the home side to recover, blocking several follow-up efforts.

Aberdeen goalkeeper McCann was called into action just before half-time, making a crucial save from Justine Strain’s looping header to keep the game level at the break.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Aberdeen controlling possession but struggling to find a breakthrough. Niamh Noble twice cut inside to shoot but saw both efforts blocked, while Emily Kraft went close on the hour mark, forcing a save from Hamilton’s Nicolson.

Hamilton nearly took the lead in the 66th minute when Abigail Tobin’s powerful effort forced McCann into a diving save, tipping the ball onto the post.

With the match finely balanced, Scott Booth made four substitutions, introducing Beattie, Murray, Finnegan and Ilijoski - a decision that paid off instantly.
