Aberdeen defender James McGarry looks set to make his Pittodrie exit after a Greek Super League side Kallithea made their move for the New Zealand international.

Reports in Greece claim Kallithea have launched their bid to secure the left-back in a bid to maintain the Athens-based side's hopes of top flight survival.

McGarry had come back into the team under Jimmy Thelin in recent weeks but has fallen down the pecking order once again, writes the Daily Record.

The signing of Alexander Jensen and Jack MacKenzie's return from injury has shut the 26-year-old out the side, with McGarry having joined the Dons under then manager Barry Robson from Central Coast Mariners in 2023.

McGarry has been unlucky with injuries and had to bide his time to get into Thelin’s stuttering side, making five appearances in recent weeks.

Jensen has since stepped into the left-back slot, running out against St Mirren at the weekend as the Dons fell to their ninth defeat of the campaign.

McGarry still has another 18 months left on his Pittodrie contract, and Aberdeen are still looking to strengthen their own squad before the close of the window.
