Adan Manzano Dies: Telemundo Sports Reporter Covering The Super Bowl Was 27

Adan Manzano, a sports broadcaster at Telemundo 39 in Kansas City, has died. He was 27.

Manzano was covering the Super Bowl in New Orleans when he suddenly died, Telemundo 39 said.

“We are saddened to share that Adan Manzano passed away yesterday in New Orleans, while on assignment to cover the Super Bowl for both Telemundo Kansas City and Tico Sports,” read a statement from Telemundo’s affiliate in Kansas City. “We are cooperating with law enforcement as they investigate this tragic event.”

Telemundo called Manzano “a true professional and a rising star, who exemplified excellence in his work,” adding, “We will deeply miss Adan and his passion for sports, and the contributions he made to the local community. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Manzano had been covering the Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, where the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will play against each other at the Caesars Superdome on Sunday, February 9. The sports journalist had been sharing content from his trip to Louisiana on his social media accounts, posting his reports from the scene.

No cause of death was revealed. Manzano’s death comes months after his wife Ashleigh Boyd died in a multi-vehicle crash in Topeka on April 2024. Boyd was driving with her one-year-old daughter, who survived the accident.

Manzano joined KGKC as a Telemundo 39 sports anchor in April 2021. He had previously worked for La Semana del Sur, Reyes Media Group and Sky Sports México, according to his LinkedIn profile.
