Aitor Karanka truth emerges amid Blackburn Rovers next manager search
Aitor Karanka is not heading back to the Championship, according to a report regarding Blackburn Rovers’ next manager search.
The Lancashire Telegraph says links between Rovers and the former Birmingham City and Middlesbrough boss are erroneous and despite what the bookmakers think, the Spaniard will not be taking charge at Ewood Park.
Karanka, who didn’t even last the full 2020/21 season at St Andrew’s producing just eight wins from 38 games, has not been in management since leaving Maccabi Tel Aviv by mutual consent in June 2023.

After an illustrious playing career Karanka had success with Boro, helping them win promotion to the Premier League and also had Nottingham Forest well positioned when he left the City Ground.
However, his time at Blues was marked by constant team changes, poor football and another relegation battle in the covid-affected season of closed stadia.
Blackburn have been looking for a successor to John Eustace after the former Blues boss went to Derby County 10 days ago. Ex-Albion head coach Valerien Ismael has also been linked.
Former Wolves man Gary O’Neil has held talks, although he is not expected to get the job while Rovers hope to make progress by the weekend.
