Alan Shearer and Mark Lawrenson agree on 'ugly' Liverpool vs Leicester prediction
Liverpool is being tipped for a big win against Leicester City later, with Alan Shearer and Mark Lawrenson both fearing the worst for the Reds’ opponents.
Arne Slot’s side is back in Premier League action this evening after spending Christmas Day top of the table, with a four-point lead at the top of the table following Sunday’s 6-3 win over Tottenham.
The Reds will be big favorites once again today as they come up against a struggling Leicester side. The Foxes find themselves just two points above the relegation zone despite the appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy as manager, having suffered a damaging 3-0 defeat to Wolves at the weekend.

A win for Liverpool would guarantee that it will go into 2025 still top of the table, and the Reds will be hoping Fulham might give them the chance to extend their advantage as they face Chelsea earlier in the day. Having already dealt one thrashing in the last few days, Shearer believes another big win could be on the cards.
Predicting a Liverpool win for Betfair, Shearer said: “You have to fear for Leicester in this one, I watched them concede four against Newcastle, the other day they conceded three against Wolves and they look all over the place defensively.
“You have to worry for them going to Anfield with the form they're in. Liverpool may smell blood here and they may get a few.”
And former Liverpool star Lawrenson is in complete agreement, with nothing other than a win for Slot’s side in his mind.
“This could get ugly for Leicester,” he told Paddy Power as he predicted a 3-0 win for Liverpool. “I just can’t see how they can do anything against Liverpool with the way the Reds are playing at the moment.
“I’ll go for a big home win but that’s probably still being kind to Leicester. They’re so porous at the back.”
Liverpool.com says: It’s easy to see why Liverpool is being backed so heavily today, especially after that performance against Tottenham. It’s important though that the Reds don’t take the game lightly and pick up where they left off in north London - they don’t want to leave the door open for their title rivals at all.
