Dario Vidosic says he had been “hopeful” of bringing Lionesses star Chloe Kelly to Albion.

The head coach has confirmed talks were held with the player whose winning goal secured glory in the Euro 2022 final at Wembley.

Kelly eventually opted to join WSL big guns Arsenal with Manchester United also in contention as she parted ways with their cross-city rivals City.

But Vidosic said Albion will remain in the market for quality players.

They already have Lionesses duo Fran Kirby and Nikita Parris in their ranks.

Asked about Kelly, he told The Argus: “We spoke to her. There was a conversation and were hopeful.

“But she decided that she would like to - I think it was between Manchester United and Arsenal in the end.

“But we are always in the market.

“We are looking for good quality players.

“She is definitely one of those.”

Albion signed Celtic defender Caitlin Hayes and Ajax midfielder Nadine Noordam in the winter window.

Vidosic, whose side drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace on Sunday, said: “We need the numbers, probably more in attack.

“We are short in numbers in attacking lines.

“Two good players have come in and have not really had a chance to train.

“Nadine has not trained yet with the team.

“We have been waiting for her visa clearance, which we got just before we arrived at the stadium.

“It will be a good opportunity now to get into normal training weeks and incorporate them, and see their qualities within our environment.”
